Account & Data Deletion

You are in control of your data. This page explains how to delete your Ghost Messenger account and erase your data, and what is removed when you do.

Delete your account in the app

The quickest way to delete your account and all of its data is from within Ghost Messenger:

  1. 1Open Ghost Messenger and unlock it with your PIN.
  2. 2Go to Settings.
  3. 3Scroll to the Account section.
  4. 4Tap Delete Account (shown in red).
  5. 5Confirm. Your account is removed from our relay and the encrypted database on your device is erased.

Instant wipe with Panic Mode

If you have set a Panic PIN in Settings, entering it immediately and permanently erases the encrypted database and keys on your device, and also signals our relay to remove your account. This is the fastest way to wipe everything on the device.

What is deleted

When you delete your account, the following is removed:

  • On our servers: your account record on the relay, including your public identity key, signed pre-keys, routing identifier, any display name you set, and your push-notification registration. After deletion, no one can start a new session with you or route messages to you.
  • On your device: the local encrypted database (your messages, contacts, groups, and keys) and the master key that protects it.

What is retained

We do not keep a history of your messages, so there is nothing to retain on our side once your account is removed; any encrypted messages still in transit are discarded.

Messages you previously sent that were already delivered to other people remain on those people’s devices and are outside our control. Any minimal, short-lived operational logs age out automatically and are not used to reconstruct your account.

Request deletion without the app

If you can no longer access the app, you can still ask us to remove your account. Email officemoneyindustrialfactory@gmail.com from any address with the subject line "Account Deletion", and include your Ghost ID if you know it. We will tombstone the account on our relay so it can no longer receive messages.

Because we cannot read your content and hold only the minimal account keys needed to route messages, there is very little data to remove beyond those keys. Data stored on your own device can only be erased from the device itself, using the in-app steps or Panic Mode above.
